The municipality of Larvik is now doing more to honour the name of Thor Heyerdahl. During the course of a three year project we will strengthen the ties between Thor Heyerdahls name and Larvik so that the town becomes known as his hometown both in Norway and around the world. We will create new attractions and experiences based on core values such as innovation, adventurousness and sincerity.

RA II proved to be much more seaworthy than R I.  R II completed the 6100km voyage and arrived in Bridgetown on the island of Barbados on the 12th of July 1970.  R II is on display at the Kon Tiki Museum in Oslo.
